Summary
The Maple News reports on an installation of more than 1,500 Farmblox monitors at Goodrich Maple Farm in northern Vermont.
The deployment spans a 6,000-acre sugarbush with 160,000 taps. Glenn Goodrich and woods managers Brett and Chris Elliott are continuing the rollout after installing more than 300 monitors the previous season.
Alongside vacuum monitoring, the devices check tank levels, transfer-line pressure and local weather, with control of a transfer pump. The aim is to help the team find leaks and use its labor more effectively while reducing lost yield.
Goodrich points to battery life and the ability to leave the monitors in place throughout the year. That avoids the work of taking down and reinstalling the system every season.
